Press Release

CANADA is pleased to announce a new series of monoprints by Hasani Sahlehe. This group of prints is the inaugural edition of the gallery’s new print program. CANADA will produce prints by gallery artists in collaboration with master printmaker Rob Swainston at his studio, Prints of Darkness, in Queens, NY. These prints were produced in conjunction with Sahlehe’s debut exhibition at the gallery, Song Ideas, that is currently on view through October 5, 2024. Like his paintings, these works feature sensitive color harmonies and slightly off-kilter stacked shapes. In her review of the show in Cultured Magazine, Joanna Fateman writes: “As a colorist he lands squarely between abstractionists Mary Heilman and Stanley Whitney, and he echoes–with his bold stripes and messed up lattices–the loose geometries of those two and many others. Yet he manages something that feels fresh."

This group of one of a kind monoprints are on Essex clay coated archival paper and are executed with Hanco oil lithography ink. They are signed and dated on the face below the image.
